Crashes have DUI charges pending

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on investigating two crashes in which driving under the influence (DUI) charges are pending.

A crash occurred at 12:51 a.m. on Dec. 18 along SR611 at Industrial Park Drive North which was reported to be head-on. Police said the vehicles involved were a Ford Mustang and a Pontiac sport utility vehicle. The driver of the Mustang was identified as Anthony Macavia, 48, of Tobyhanna. Police said prior to the collision of the Mustang and Pontiac the Mustang was struck by a Pocono Mountain Regional ambulance.Macavia was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment of injuries and he submitted to a blood test. The test results showed Macavia was under the influence of both alcohol and cocaine. The driver of the Pontiac was not identified by police.On Dec. 30 at 6:37 p.m. officers responded to the intersection of SR611 and Grange Road for a reported accident. On scene officers spoke to Dexter McGahee, 52, and Dawn McGahee, 50, both of Scranton. McGahee's vehicle was involved in the crash and a witness identified Dexter McGahee as the driver. Police said Dexter McGahee said Dawn McGahee was the driver.He failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI. Both McGahee's were also charged with false reports.
