A driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 1:15 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, along SR895 (Fair Road), about four-tenths of a mile east of Woodland Road, in South Manheim Township, Schuylkill County.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said a passerby alerted them that a green in color Chevrolet S10 pickup truck was along the north shoulder of the road blocking the westbound lane. The truck had obvious evidence of having been involved in a recent crash, troopers said.
Troopers responded to the scene and found no driver. They then went to the home of the registered owner of the vehicle, Daniel K. Holser, 28, no address given. Troopers determined he had been driving the vehicle and appeared to be under the influence of marijuana. Various items of drug paraphernalia were seized from his apartment.
Holser refused to submit to a blood test and was taken to the barracks and later released to the custody of his mother. He will be charged with DUI of a controlled substance and related charges. He will also lose his license for a year for refusing to submit to a blood test, troopers added.
