Summit Hill

Democrats meet

Nathan Halenar presided at his first monthly meeting of the Jeffersonian Democratic Club, Summit Hill, on Thursday, Feb. 17, in the Summit Hill Borough Hall.

Halenar was elected president in January, succeeding Robin McArdle.

Other officers are Robert Crampsie, vice president; Joseph O'Gurek Jr., treasurer; and Alice Kane, secretary.

District Attorney Gary Dobias, who has been in the prosecuting office for 30 years, addressed the club members.

Membership in the club is now open for 2011. Dues are $2.

Members discussed local offices that are to be decided by the voters in this year's municipal election. They include four borough council positions and five seats on the Panther Valley School District Board of Directors.

Members announced the club has nominating petitions for anyone desiring to seek those positions.

The club decided to change its monthly meetings from the third Thursday of the month to the fourth Wednesday of each month, so as to not conflict with a similar meeting of the Lansford Democratic Club.
