Driver facing DUI after Carbon crash

A Northampton County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 12:02 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, along SR248 in Bowmanstown, Carbon County.

State police at Lehighton said Andrew R. Kemmerer, 27, of Bethlehem, was eastbound in a 2006 Chevrolet Sliverado pickup truck when he fell asleep and failed to negotiate a left hand curve. The truck hit the center concrete median with its left front corner. The truck then traveled across both eastbound lanes and struck a guide rail on the southern edge. The truck came to rest facing east on the shoulder.Troopers said Kemmerer was found to be under the influence and was transported to the Palmerton hospital where he submitted to a blood test. The charges are pending the test results.
