Andreas woman found "huffing"

Mahoning Township police charged an Andreas woman found slumped in her car with empty aerosol dusting cans with driving under the influence (DUI) of solvents or noxious substances.

Miranda L. Mooney, 22, of the 1500 block of Penn Drive, admitted to police that she had been "huffing" the substance.According to a report by Police Chief Kenneth Barnes, Mooney began huffing the spray while in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart Super Center.According to police here's what happened:At 12:40 p.m. Feb. 3, police responded to the 700 block of Fredericks Grove Road in response to a 911 call. Upon arrival officers saw three vehicles stopped on the roadway, among them a blue Hyundai station wagon with a woman in the driver's seat. The other two vehicles were occupied by concerned citizens, who had called 911. The concerned citizens told police that they came upon the woman in the Hyundai and that she was slumped over.They stopped to check on her welfare and saw that she was inhaling the contents of an aerosol can of dusting spray. Police investigated and identified the woman as Mooney. She admitted to police that she had been "huffing" or inhaling the contents of the aerosol spray of one can. She stated that she began huffing the spray while parked in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart then drove to her location on Fredericks Grove Road and continued huffing.Police found three aerosol cans of "Clean-Safe" brand dusting spray in her vehicle. Two were empty and a third contained only a trace of liquid. Mooney failed field sobriety tests. She was taken to the Lehighton hospital for her own safety and for compliance of the state Implied Consent Law.Mooney was charged via criminal complaint with sale or illegal use of certain solvents and DUI of solvents or noxious substances.
