Rush police report

Rush Township police reported investigating two accidents, as well as making a drug arrest.

On Jan. 28 at 7:50 a.m., Brad J. Gerstein, 47, Shavertown, was traveling down the Mile Hill (SR309) when he lost control of his 2007 Ford Fusion due to weather conditions while negotiating a curve causing his vehicle to hit a guide rail. The vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.On Jan. 28 at 9:49 a.m., Amanda Miller, 23, New Ringgold, was struck by a vehicle driven by Billy Spence, 53, Weatherly, while walking in the Wal-mart parking lot. Miller was taken to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for a leg injury. No charges will be filed, police said.On Jan. 28 at 6:10 p.m., police were called to Two Kings Pizzeria, Hometown, for an intoxicated person inside. Police determined that a 14-year-old Tamaqua juvenile was under the influence of marijuana. Police learned that the juvenile was smoking marijuana with a 15 year-old male on Lincoln Drive.After an investigation police later recovered drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana on Lincoln Drive. The 14-year-old was taken to St. Luke's and is facing a charge of public drunkenness. The 15-year-old is facing charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana, police said.
