State police at the Frackville barracks report the arrest of Timothy Russell Steward Jr., 38, of Delano, on child pornography charges relating to incidents that happened eight years ago.

Police said he was arraigned on Dec. 23 and committed to the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Steward is charged with sexual abuse of children, pornography, videotaping, depicting on computer or filming sexual acts; indecent assault; unlawful contact with a minor (three counts); obscene and other sexual material and performances; and corruption of minors.

Police said the charges stem from incidents that happened at various times in 2003.

Police said they were contacted in November by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that it had received a report that pictures of child pornography were discovered in Delano. The investigation was turned over to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Computer Crime, and State Police at Frackville.

Police said the investigation revealed some of the images could be identified to a known child from about eight years ago. Police eventually learned Steward had illegal contact with the victim.

They filed the above charges against the man on Dec. 20, and arraigned him three days later.
