Work is well under way on the replacement of the Catawissa Street bridge in Tuscarora. The work is being done by contractors with Clear Water Construction. The bridge is expected to be completed by summer of 2012. Catawissa Street and Tuscarora Mountain Drive traffic is being detoured through Hometown and Tamaqua.

The bridge is in the Locust Valley, Barnesville not Tuscorora! Traffic is being detoured throughout the "Valley" not through Hometown and Tamaqua. We here where the bridge is actually located are just wondering why construction was started in November and will probably sit idle most of the winter and spring due to weather conditions, depriving motorists of one of only two state maintained roads between Rt54 and Rt209 all winter long? does it really take 8 months to construct a bridge that spans a total of 40ft? Just another "brain surgery" move by PennDot.
