Lansford Alive presented its annual Black Diamond Award to Boyer's Market of Lansford during a dinner program Saturday at the office of State Representative Doyle Heffley in Lansford.

Mark Sverchek, president of Lansford Alive, presented a plaque to Tara Werley, a cashier for Boyer's and one of the store's most active volunteers.Also at the award presentation were Jeanne Porter, co-owner of the Boyer's supermarket chain, and John Casella, Lansford store manager.Porter remarked, "Our employees do an awesome job and we're very proud of them."Sverchek praised Boyer's for "helping us move forward with our progress."He said Boyer's contributes greatly to many projects in the community.The invocation was given by Chris Ondrus, a member of the board of directors of Lansford Alive.Sverchek noted that one of Lansford Alive's major accomplishments during the past year was helping to form the Lansford-Summit Hill partnership.Other organizations represented at the Lansford Alive dinner were the Lansford Library, the Lansford Improvement Committee, the Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization, and the Lansford-Summit Hill Partnership.A moment of silence was held for Steve Brunda, a former member of Lansford Alive who recently passed away.
