Carbon/Schuylkill Community Theater presents A Christmas Carol this weekend in Summit Hill. Show time is 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, 1 W. Hazard St.
The production is adapted by Michael A. Youngs, from the classic story by Charles Dickens. It is produced by the CSCT board of directors, under a special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service.
"This adaptation was written in 2006 and offers a reflective look at a timeless classic," says CSCT President Jonathan M. Rodgers, who is also directing the show.
"A Christmas Carol, as performed by the CSCT, will demonstrate a story within a story. Told from the perspective of an old man, the trials and chains that Scrooge has forged for many years remain classic," adds Rogers. "The old man teaches his granddaughter that there is much more to the holiday season then presents."
Rodgers says the show runs about an hour in length.
"This story holds great value to the holiday season," he adds. "It is ideal for those 10 and older. The younger children are sure to enjoy the show, however the idea of ghosts and time travel may be confusing. I encourage families and friends of all ages to come out and enjoy the timeless classic as a group."
The show features new performers from as young as 7 years old, up to some of the area's most seasoned performers.
