Life (Lehighton Interfaith Fellowship) at their recent meeting presented the results of the CROP Hunger Walk held on Oct. 9, at the Lehigh Canal Park, Weissport. The total raised was $4,032.
CROP Hunger Walks help fight hunger and poverty around the world through Church World Service's relief and development programs. Twenty five percent of the funds raised will come back to the Trinity Pantry. The Trinity Pantry is located at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 175 South Third Street, Lehighton and is serving 400 plus families a month in the Lehighton Area School District.
The pantry is also part of Shepherd House Inc., Carbon County's Food Distribution system.
There were 154 walkers representing the following churches: All Saints Episcopal, Ben Salem United Church of Christ, Dinkey Memorial Lutheran, First Presbyterian, St. John's Union, St. Matthew's Lutheran, Paul's Lutheran, Albrightsville; St. Paul's Lutheran, Weissport; Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic church, Lehighton; Trinity Evangelical Lutheran and Zion United Church of Christ.
Life received donations from Giant Food Stores, Kevin Stubits for bottled water and Mark Pell for snacks.
