Two daredevil kayakers from the Reading area sought thrills by challenging the deep rapids of the swollen Little Schuylkill River in downtown Tamaqua on Sunday at noon during the height of Hurricane Irene. Emergency management officials might have admonished the pair for taking risks, but the duo told the TIMES NEWS that the roar of the waves was "excellent."
