A dozen of Pennsylvania's leading wildlife and nature artists will share their work at the Hawk Mountain Art Show and Sale held in the Sanctuary Visitor Center, Saturday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and proceeds will help benefit Hawk Mountain Sanctuary.
Participating artists scheduled to appear are wildlife painter Dan Christ, Kempton; commercial illustrator Patrick Gnan, Elverson; wildlife painter Dave Hughes, Schuylkill Haven; antique style decoy carver Jeff Keiffer, Muncy; wildlife painter Bob McGee, Macungie; wildfowl carver Chris Murray, Pottstown; stoneware pottery by Sandra and Bill Jones, Reading; metal sculptor Joanne Minnick, Orwigsburg; wildlife photographer Phil Campbell, Lehighton; and Pennsylvania Duck Stamp winner Gerald Putt, Boiling Springs.

A new book, the "Pennsylvania State Parks and State Forests Passport," which was developed and funded by a grant from Chesapeake Energy, is being offered by the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation and is available on its website at www.paparksandforests.org and by mail.
This 135-page passport includes maps, a history of the state's park and forest system, a brief description and most memorable feature of each state park and forest, and additional online resources. Participants can track their visits to our public lands by initialing or stamping their booklet and, on the honor system, apprise PPFF of their progress.
Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation is a non-profit that supports Pennsylvania's 117 state parks and 2.2 million acres of forest by coordinating volunteers, activities, and donations to encourage recreation, healthier lifestyles, education, and natural/cultural resources. PPFF, which was founded in 1999 and has 32 chapters, helps maximize the economic and environmental benefits from our parks and forests.

This week's edition of "Experience The Outdoors," hosted by award-winning Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association member Doyle Dietz, Sunday, at 7 a.m. on 1410 WLSH and 9:30 a.m. on Magic 105.5, will feature Lehigh Valley Hunting and Fishing Extravaganza co-promoter Rick Weaknecht.
A series of basic kayaking courses for those 12 years of age and older will be held at Tuscarora State Park, Barnesville, and kayaks, paddles and personal flotation devices are available for those without their own equipment. Maximum weight capacity is 275 pounds, and preregistration is required by signing up at the park office prior to the event or by calling 570-467-2506. There is a $15 fee for those needing to borrow equipment and a $5 fee for those with their own equipment, and each child must be accompanied by an adult.
