The Tamaqua Area Community Partnership unveiled its new website during a learning discussion and online open house held recently at the Tamaqua High School library.

www.TACP.info, offers local videos and informative resources for the Tamaqua area."This is the story of what our partnership is doing, and why we are doing it," Micah Gursky, partnership director, said.The Tamaqua partnership, previously called the Tamaqua Area 2004 Partnership, is comprised of area residents who seek to preserve the best of the past, enhance the quality of life in the present, and work to create a better future for the generations that follow.Some local resources on the website consist of community development, community health, community partnership, education, historic preservation, recreation, restoration and the Upper Floors Project.Gursky, who is also the president of the Tamaqua Borough Council, mentioned that the website is different from how the partnership previously familiarized people with the its achievements.From the home page, visitors to the site can browse topics like historic building restoration, education, recreation, and community health.Each area features commentaries from partnership members, dignitaries or affiliates.Gursky pointed out that the partnership strives on bringing people and investors to the community."Whether they were community investors from LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation), the Louisiana Delta or the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh, or anywhere," he added.As part of an investor or visitor orientation, the partnership would meet at the train station, show them the main street, the community college, the South Ward improvements and other major improvements in Tamaqua.The site also hosts partnership reports, to include historical documents, meeting minutes, and information about community partners, such as Blueprint Communities and Pennsylvania's Main Street Program.People can contact the partnership or sign up for a partnership newsletter through the website, which is linked to Facebook and Twitter."During visits, we talked about our festivals, trails and our parks and playgrounds," Gursky said, "and they would just be overwhelmed."The website, he said, offers an "online tour" of all that.Patricia Freeh-Stefanek, partnership chairwoman, commented on the simplicity and ease of use of the site.Linda Yulanavage, executive director, Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce, was pleased with the finished product, pointing out the amount of work that was put into the website, which was designed and created by Ed Redding of VideoWorks Production Co., Reading."TACP.info is a new showcase for Tamaqua Area community progress and its people," added Gursky.
