Summit Hill secretary-treasurer resigns

Kira Michalik, Summit Hill's secretary-treasurer, last night submitted her resignation from that position.

She told the borough council she has found other employment and that the resignation becomes effective 4 p.m. on Sept. 2.Michalik has held that position for the past eight years.The resignation was accepted during a special meeting of Summit Hill Borough Council.Council President Joe Weber thanked her "for the many years of dedicated service."It was agreed to advertise for applications for a replacement. The deadline for applicants is the end of the business day on Aug. 24.Four members of council attended the special meeting. They were Weber, Michael Alabovitz, Bill Chapman and Mike Kokinda.In other business, it was agreed to draw up specifications for the hiring of a maintenance worker.The council said one of the two full-time employees, Joseph "Mucker" Williams, has been off for six months and it's not positive if he is returning.Kokinda stressed that the borough can't afford three full-time maintenance workers.Weber said that presently only a job description is being outlined. It wasn't stated when applications for the position will be received.
