The Pocono Area Dance Association (PADA) is sponsoring a public dance social to raise money for OPERATION: TOUCH OF HOME, which is a local organization that collects and sends comfort items for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The dance social will be held at the West End Fire House in Brodheadsville on Aug. 22, starting at 7 p.m., with half the proceeds going to OPERATION: TOUCH OF HOME and the remaining half going to benefit the West End Fire Company.

PADA is a nonprofit entity formed to promote all forms of dance in the Poconos, including swing, ballroom, salsa, and many others. PADA's directors work with various municipal and county organizations to offer low-cost dance courses to residents of the area. PADA then sponsors dance events so that new and experienced dancers can share their skills, and socialize in a safe environment while raising money for local charities.

PADA President Kurt Kraeutler stated that all are welcome at PADA's dance events, even if they don't know how to dance.

"We always have a professional instructor present to give a lesson for beginners, and the more experienced dancers are very helpful. Besides, the idea is to raise money for some very worthy organizations – while having some fun."
