Saturday is a big day at the box office for Penn's Peak.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. for six upcoming concerts including one scheduled Oct. 30 by the incomparable, legendary Willie Nelson.
Other shows for which tickets go on sale Saturday are Rusted Root on Sept. 23, Journey Tribute with Voyage on Sept. 24, Jo Dee Messina on Oct. 1, and Vanilla Fudge - the Farewell Tour on Dec. 2.
Then on Saturday, Aug. 20, tickets go on sale for two more concerts: The Australian Pink Floyd show on Aug. 20 and Dark Star Orchestra on Nov. 23.
This will be Willie Nelson's first appearance at the celestial venue. Several years ago he had scheduled a concert at the Peak but was forced to cancel.
The iconic "Red Headed Stranger" has had 25 number one records, recorded 67 albums, and appeared in over 30 films and TV shows. Among the movies was "Honeysuckle Rose," in which he played a married country singer who goes on tour and has an affair.
Also starring in Honeysuckle Rose, as his wife, is Dyan Cannon.
Among his number one hits are "Always on My Mind," "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain," "Seven Spanish Angels," and his signature song, "On the Road Again."
Nelson has become well-known for his compassion to farmers. This weekend, he will be hosting the 25th annual Farm Aid concert from Kansas City. He was the founder of Farm Aid, which has raised more than $39 million to support the farm community since its inception.
The live concert will be webcast starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday. In addition, the concert will air live all day Saturday on Sirius XM Radio on Willie's Roadhouse (channel 56).
Messina, another country artist, brings her Music Room Series back to Penn's Peak on Oct. 31.
The performer, who got her break from superstar Tim McGraw, has had such hits as "Heads Carolina, Tails California," "I'm Alright," and "Bring on the Rain," which she recorded with McGraw.
Beginning in 1967, Vanilla Fudge rocked the world with a new sound, influencing a generation of musicians and creating a legion of loyal fans.
The influential band, and its original members, Mark Stein, Carmine Appice, Tim Bogert, and Vince Martell, who are still active musicians, are once again touring and recording together.
Vanilla Fudge had a major hit with a remake of "You Keep Me Hanging On," which was first recorded by The Supremes in 1966.
