Geisinger Health System was recently named to the Becker's Hospital Review "100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare" list for 2011. This is the first time the health system has been named to this list.
"Not only are we committed to delivering high-quality care to our patients, we are just as committed to providing a high-quality work environment for our employees," said Glenn Steele Jr., M.D., Ph.D., president and chief executive officer, Geisinger Health System. "It is with great pleasure that we receive this acknowledgement. Inclusion on the list affirms that our employees have an environment in which they can thrive professionally to carry out the tremendous work that they do."
Hospitals and health systems are selected based on the initiatives established that create a work environment promoting teamwork, professional development and quality patient care.
Specifically, Geisinger was named to this list based on educational and health-improvement opportunities available for employees. Geisinger partners with 20 organizations and institutions to provide an array of educational opportunities as well as educational loans. Geisinger's MyHealth Rewards program is a multifaceted program to encourage and help employees better their health.
Geisinger is an integrated health services organization widely recognized for its innovative use of the electronic health record, and the development and implementation of innovative care models including ProvenHealth Navigator, an advanced medical home model, and ProvenCare program.
