Summertime is the perfect time to take a walk through a garden. Plants, flowers, insects and wildlife make up all the life inside a garden.
It's all those wonderful things that the Girl Scout Cadette Troop 439 wants to bring to the public in a fun and interesting way at their free "What Lives in a Garden" event Sunday, Aug. 7 from 1-4 p.m. at the Chestnuthill Township Park, located on Rt. 715, Brodheadsville.
It will be held, rain or shine.
"This is an event that is very special to us. All seven Cadettes are working on their Silver Award. They have been working on a garden at the Chestnuthill Twp. Park as their project. They cleaned up the Butterfly Garden area, redesigned the beds and have been working really hard during their summer vacation," says Harriet Barone, troop leader.
The Cadettes will be offering free activities for children ages 5-10 from face painting, coloring, games, to making a butterfly mobile and paper insects.
Refreshments will be available.
"They have done an amazing job," says Barone, proudly.
