The West Penn Athletic/Softball Association will host the Aquafina Pitch Hit and Run Competition on April 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the West Penn Park.
The competition is open to all boys and girls between the ages of 7-14. Participation is free and birth certificates are required for proof of age.

The Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue group will host its Fourth Annual Dog Walk on May 7, following along the Schuylkill Valley Heritage Trail.
The walk will begin at the Newkirk Tunnel Environmental Education Area along SR209, just west of Tamaqua. Participants will head west for one mile, then return to the registration area.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m. with the walk starting at noon. Registration is required.
Pledge forms are available at the Citi Financial office, located in the former Jamesway Mall, the TIMES NEWS Tamaqua office and Tamaqua Borough Hall. For more information, call (570) 668-0323.

The Tamaqua Class of 1961 will hold its 50th anniversary reunion on Aug. 6.

SS. Peter and Paul
The Ladies Auxiliary of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will hold its annual tea on May 2, at 4:30 p.m., at the home of Bernadette Griffiths. Members are reminded to bring a dessert.
Rehearsal for First Holy Communion will be held May 2 at 6 p.m., in the church.
A Living Rosary will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Coaldale, on May 2 at 6:30 p.m. A Mass and light refreshments will follow. The public is welcome to attend.
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Nursery care is provided. Sunday school for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, a prayer walk, in conjunction with New Life Assembly of God Church, will begin at 2 p.m., and the monthly service at the Tamaqua ABC High Rise will be held at 6 p.m.

St. Peter's Union
The Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.
