At a special meeting, the Summit Hill Water Authority officially launched the construction phase of the Solar field they are constructing on the property of their physical plant in White Bear by announcing they secured the loan from their bank and are now ready to award the bid to one of the contractors who applied previously for the project.
It was decided earlier in the month after a review that Spotts Brothers of Schuylkill Haven was originally the lowest qualified bidder but prior to the late March meeting they requested their bid be rescinded. This request was honored by the authority on the recommendation of Solicitor Joe Velitsky. Due to this withdrawal, the bid for the project was awarded to Miller Brothers, a division of Wampole-Miller, Inc of Norristown, PA.
The board also unanimously voted to approve Barry Isetts and Associates as the project's inspector at an amount not to exceed $5,000.
Authority Engineer Mike Tirpak was asked by member Louis Alexander about where the panels would be purchased. Tirpak said there were four companies that produce the panels which could be used in the project. The board directed Tirpak to make sure the panels if possible were made in the United States by a reputable company.
