Family Dollar store burglary

The Lansford Police Department is investigating a burglary at the Family Dollar store on the east end of town.

Officer Amie Barclay responded to an alarm call at the store on East Patterson Street at 5:21 a.m. Tuesday.Upon arrival, she saw that a burglary had occurred with the actor(s) using a rock to gain access through the front door of the building. Summit Hill Police Chief Joseph Fittos responded to assist in checking the building and surrounding area. It was found that the actor(s) had unsuccessfully attempted to enter through several other doors of the building.A search of the building and surrounding area found a trail of Slim Jims beef jerky which led from the store to the parking lot on the east side of the building.Lansford Chief John Turcmanovich and Det. Sgt. Jack Soberick were called in to assist at the scene as well. State police at Hazleton's Records and Identification Unit was contacted to process the scene for evidence.Items taken included cell phones, a car charger, cigarette lighters, Tylenol, Slim Jims, and candy.Anyone who may have seen anyone in the area before the burglary or who has any information is asked to contact police at (800) 452-1813 or (570) 645-5844.
