Dear Editor
I ride around Pennsylvania doing what i have to do.
I also go to Parades and functions.
It puzzles me that guys and girls like myself put on our country's uniform and did what had to be done.
Whenever I go to a ceremony or a parade I see people who don't respect the flag or the National Anthem.
Some remain seated. Hats are not removed, Some are too busy eating, drinking or talking.
Or I see flags that should have been replaced long ago. Some are faded or even torn.
Don't these people know they are disrespecting our flag and country?
WAKE UP PEOPLE!
I Remain

Bob,
Follow the news and things that are happening in our country on a daily basis. Kids today are being taught in public school they have no responsibility to respect their elders, the flag and those things which made our country great. A snotty grandson, age 16 at the time, got indignant when his grand parents told him to place his hand over his heart when the National Anthem was being played at a public finction. He said they were taught in school that it was not necessary. I believe the effort to undermine our traditions is intentional and you just have to be vigilent to see who is promoting it.
"I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on
frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond
words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and
respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise
[disrespectful] and impatient of restraint"
Hesiod, 8th century BC
Yes, surely the behavior of a 16 year old is indicative of a vast liberal conspiracy to erase "traditional" American values. Sixteen year olds were never snotty before, after all.
If you would take a few moments and really read what was written, I SAID THEY ARE TAUGHT TO DISRESPECT those things IN PUBLIC SCHOOL!
Do you really not see how my comment logically follows yours? I really have to explain this to you?
What I'm trying to say (and what I thought was pretty clear), is that your non-specific, third hand account of a 16 year old is NOT proof of public schools being anti-America, socialistic, liberal indoctrination centers. If this little tale is true, its seems more likely that it comes from some old timers complaining about the youth of today. Meanwhile, you consider it evidence that your traditions and values are being threatened through some government effort.
Are YOU paying attention?
