Hundreds of gleaming fire trucks, emergency apparatus and marchers took part in the 131st Firemen's Association of the State of Pennsylvania Convention Parade held Saturday in Hanover Township.

All the fire companies entered numerous categories in which they would be judged, and were competing with the best of the best from throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

The Hanover Township Fire Department hosted this year's four-day Firemen's Association of the State of Pennsylvania annual convention, which also served as the hosting fire department.

Crowds lined the streets for miles to get a glimpse of the passing multicolored new and classic fire trucks, marchers, performers, floats and bands.

Some local fire departments also took part in the state parade, such as Tamaqua, Lake Harmony, Mahanoy City, Jim Thorpe, Tuscarora, Coaldale, McAdoo and others.

Firefighters spent weeks in preparation for the parade, hoping to take home a trophy or prize. Some special judges were also chosen from Schuylkill County fire departments to judge the apparatus.

Following the lengthy parade, firefighters and patrons were encouraged to enjoy themselves at the Hanover Township block party which was followed by an awards and prize ceremony for various categories.

Next year's convention will be hosted by Albrightsville and Lake Harmony fire companies.
