Area couple celebrate 60 years

Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Steigerwalt, Lehighton, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

They were married on Sept. 16, 1950 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Palmerton by the late Rev. George McKinley.Mrs. Steigerwalt is the former Viola Bowman, daughter of the late Victor and Celia Bowman of Bowmanstown.Her husband is the son of the late Walter and Velma Steigerwalt of Lehighton.The Steigerwalts are the parents of three children: a son, Michael, and his wife, Gerianne, of Cortland, N.Y.; and two daughters, Carol, wife of James Snyder of Lehighton, and Kathy, wife of Raymond Nunemacher of Tamaqua.They have seven grandchildren: Michael, Teresa and Katie Steigerwalt; Jennifer and Brian Snyder; and Eric and Heather Nunemacher. They also have one great-grandson, Chase Snyder.Mrs. Steigerwalt is retired from West Bow Mfg., Inc. and Scotties Fashions, Lehighton.Mr. Steigerwalt is retired from Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., Hometown. He also was a part-time employee of Blue Ridge Country Club in Palmerton for many years.The Steigerwalts are members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bowmanstown. They both are members of the Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club.A trip to the New England states is planned in celebration of their wedding anniversary.
