Named executive education director

Karen Kuhla, Ph.D., daughter of Adelle and Bernard Kuhla, of Jim Thorpe, joined the Thayer Leader Development Group at U.S. Military Academy as director of executive education. The Thayer Leader Development Group (TLDG) is the benchmark in leadership development, offering executives access to top scholars and field practitioners in leadership education today, as well as unequaled inspirational setting. Karen comes to TLDG after having worked at General Electric delivering GE's leadership development systems and Change Acceleration Process training to health care executives and at GE's Corporate University, Crotonville, as Global Program Manager for Executive Education.

Karen attended Virginia Tech where she earned a B.S. degree in Business Management and an M.S. degree in Education and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Virginia. She is the recipient of a National Research Award for her Master's thesis, has presented at local, state and national conferences, and is co-author of 10 publications.After completing her Ph.D., Karen worked as a program manager and interim executive director for a nonprofit service organization serving 11 school districts, 3,800 students, 400 teachers and a 32-member board. Then at Arthur Andersen, LLP, as an organizational development manager and at CDR International, a Mercer-Delta Consulting Company, in the augural Director of Client Services position where she designed and oversaw an internal team supporting the delivery of large-scale global leadership development programs.Karen presently resides in the outskirts of New York City.
