Dr. Margaret Brisco will be at the Western Pocono Community Library, Pilgrim's Way, Brodheadsville, on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. She will be reading excerpts from her latest book, "Metamorphoses: The Stories She May Tell." It is an explanation of the idea of life as a series of transformations. Characters change and are changed by the people and circumstances they encounter.
Dr. Brisco was born in Trieste, Italy, graduated from Facolta di Medicina e Chirurgia in Padova, Italy. She practiced obstetrics and gynecology in northern New Jersey for 35 years and was a pioneer at a time when few women became physicians and even fewer undertook specialties involving surgery. Since her retirement from medicine, she has devoted herself to writing.
In addition to "Metamorphoses" she has published "Childbirth: A Unique Experience," and "Women in Transition: I am a Wanderer." Her stories have been publicized in the Journals of the LLL Institute of Caldwell College, Caldwell, NJ and the Elderhostel Institute. She is a member of the NJ artist group, "The Write Group." She has residences both in the U.S. and Italy, and is bilingual.
