Even though the summer season is coming to an end there is still plenty to do at the Mauch Chunk Lake Park beginning with the 4th Annual Anthracite & Bluegrass Festival weekend.

The weekend includes an open mic night on Friday evening, Sept. 17 beginning at approximately 7 p.m. followed by the main event on Saturday, September 18th when performers will begin at 11 a.m. and continue into the evening hours.

A social bonfire will be held at dusk. The open mic on Friday night is free and will be hosted by a number of performers including local artist Pat McGeehan. On Saturday, there will be an admission fee Performers include Jupiters Arrow, Texas Rose, Mason Porter, Blue Roots, Coal County Express, The Three of Us, and Jay Smar. The event will also include food vendors, crafters, environmental programs, and historical exhibits relating to Anthracite coal mining and local history. A morning breakfast at the Koch-Wildoner pavilion will be held to benefit the Carbon County 4-H. Children's activities during the day will include pumpkin painting and hayrides along the scenic Switchback Trail.
