If the game of football only consisted of two quarters, the Palmerton Blue Bombers would have a winning season right now.

Just as they have the past four weeks, the Bombers played their opponent (Pen Argyl) tough in the first half and actually had a 12-7 lead at intermission.The Green Knights, however, one of the top four Class 2A teams in District 11, turned the game around with three third quarter TDs and Palmerton found itself on the short end of a 33-12 final score."It's another one of those games where the score isn't going to be indicative of the competition," said Palmerton head coach Paul McArdle. "We had the momentum at halftime. We had them on the ropes."They have some weapons and came out and exploited a couple of them. They made a couple of big plays and got the momentum right back and we were never really able to recover."The Green Knights actually scored on their first offensive series of the game when Dylan Evans ran in from three yards out to cap a drive highlighted by a 31-yard pass reception from quarterback Nathan Hood to Joey Wagner. Wagner booted the PAT for a 7-0 lead.Palmerton didn't blink an eye, however, putting together a 61-yard , 8-play drive with sophomore Alex Vignone breaking loose right up the middle for a 31-yard TD. A run for the conversion was stopped short and with 7:55 left in the half, the Green Knights held a 7-6 edge.With just over five minutes left in the half, the Bombers managed to put another drive together starting on their own 45. Nine plays later, it was Vignone again, sprung loose by a Jarred Harry block, racing 46 yards to the end zone. A pass for the conversion failed, but Palmerton had a 12-7 lead for the final 59 seconds of the half."Viggy had the runs and he'll get the headlines, but Jarred Harry just drilled kids on a tackle trap," said McArdle. "I thought up front we did a real good job. We were really outsized again. We moved the ball did some real nice things, but once we got down we had difficulty coming back."We got a out of our element."The Green Knights took the second half kickoff and marched 52 yards in 10 plays with Evans going over from the three for the score.Evans intercepted a pass on Palmerton's next series and two plays later, Hood connected with Tyler Horn for a 51-yard touchdown so in 1:23, the Knights had scored their second TD and led 19-7.A 36-yard pass completion from Horn to Zach Miller with 3:28 still left in the third quarter was good for another touchdown and Wagner's kick made it 26-12.With 4:49 left in the game, JD Rabenold ran 14 yards for the final Pen Argyl score and Wagner's boot ended the scoring.
