The Eldred Township Halloween Parade was a successful extravaganza of creative imaginations. The floats and costumes were quite a sight for the largest viewing audience the parade has ever had.

The Grand Marshall was Constance Andrews of Kunkletown, a former elementary teacher for Eldred one room schools and Eldred Elementary School. She was a passenger in Melvin Frable's Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, driven by Melvin. Wearing a witch's hat, she threw candy to the crowds that lined the parade route from St. Matthew's UCC's picnic grove, Church Lane and down through Kunkletown to the final destination of the Kunkletown Vol. Fire Co. where participants were treated with refreshments.

The parade committee said they had 255 registered participants but about 270 people walked in the parade.

There was $520 of prize money awarded to winners of the six categories. They were:

Ugliest-1st, Trista Meckes (witch); 2nd Garret Smith (werewolf)

Cutest-1st Alexis Stankovich (princess); 2nd Lila Borger (glittery witch); 3rd Anastasia Krial-Victor (Princess Leia)

Most Original-1st Nathen Brunell (UPS man); 2nd Rosemary Crawn (Mother Nature); 3rd Allison Fulper (Raggedy Ann)

Best Pair-1st Danica and Kailyn Getz (Witches); 2nd Dayle and Carnie Greenzweig (farm girls with goat and rabbit); 3rd Madison and Breeana Ewing (Dorothy and Glinda the Good Witch)

Best Group-1st The Smith Family (Alice in Wonderland and Company); 2nd 4H Club (ghoulish theme with dog); 3rd Abby, Diane and George Huber (Queen of Hearts and court)
