Tamaqua school district wins six tax assessment appeals

Tamaqua Area School District close out its appeals by having the market value and assessment on six more properties located in the school district boundary increased for 2011 taxes by the Schuylkill County Assessment Appeals Board following a hearing held last Thursday at the courthouse in Pottsville.

John and Karen Hadesty, 155 W. Moser Avenue, Coaldale, owners of a tract containing 2.26 acres on north side of Broad Street along Route 209 leading from Tamaqua to Coaldale in Tamaqua Borough, market value increased from $79,800 to $91,520 and assessment increased from $39,900 to $45,769, an increase of $5,860 in assessment.Brian Faust and Angela Smith, owners of property at 106 River Road, Tamaqua (Walker Township), market value increased from $53,460 to $118,140 and assessment from $26,730 to $59,070, an increase of $32,340 in assessment.Paul Miller, owner of property at 317 Mulberry Street, Tuscarora, Schuylkill Township, market value increased from $26,500 to $58,240 and assessment from $13,251 to $29,120, an increase of $15,870 in assessment.Hometown Square, LLC, owners of property at 220 Claremont Avenue, Tamaqua, (Rush Township), market value increased from $197,040 to $270,400 and assessment from $98,520 to $135,200, an increase of $36,680 in assessment.Jason Bartoli, owner of property at 15 Sherwood Street, Tamaqua, (Rush Township), market value increased from $67,150 to $115,230 and assessment from $33,575 to $57,615, an increase of $24,040 in assessment.David and Pamela Hoffmaster, owners of property at 415 Willing St., Tamaqua, market value increased from $50,516 to $83,200 and assessment from $25,260 to $41,600, an increase of $16,340 in assessment.Lisa Kehs, Kempton, owner of property at 133 Lumber Lane, New Ringgold (West Penn Township), market value increased from $87,246 to $141,440 and assessment from $43,625 to $70,720, an increase of $27,095 in assessment.Charles Blesse and Kimberly Deitrich, owners of property at 1019 Clamtown Road, Tamaqua, (West Penn Township), market value increased from $103,200 to $138,960 and assessment from $51,600 to $64,480, an increase of $12,880 in assessment.Win reductionDorothy and Curtis Bailey, 3421 Summer Valley Road, New Ringgold (West Penn Township), owners of a tract containing 2.04 acres which is unimproved barren land, the market value of $24,380 was reduced to $7,240 and assessment of $12,190 reduced to $3,620, a reduction of $8,570 in assessment. On a tract containing 17.3 acres located along Route 793 in Andreas, West Penn Township, market value of $125,560 reduced to $89,270 and assessment from $62,780 to $44,635, a reduction of $18,145 in assessment.Charles and Rose Osenbach, owners of property at 873 Grier Avenue, Barnesville, Rush Township, which was reported vacant for the past 10 years and the structure deteriorating had the market value of $69,950 reduced to $14,560 and assessment from $32,975 to $7,280, a reduction of $25,695 in assessment.Former churchBernard and Kimberly Kuperavage, of 1100 Mountain Side Road, Cumbola, Blythe Township, who purchased the closed St. Casimer's Church, S. Nicholas St., Saint Clair, had the market value of $241,925 reduced to $49,920 and assessment from $120,960 to $24,960, a reduction of $96,000 in assessment.
