Nesquehoning police Officer Tom Kurtz issued three traffic tickets for speeding to drivers at Oak and Catawissa streets, a 25 mph zone, in late October. Two tickets were issued on Oct. 30, one to a driver traveling 43 mph and the other to a driver traveling 41 mph. The third ticket went to a driver traveling 42 mph.

Officer Brian White issued citations to two drivers on Nov. 2, one for an expired inspection sticker on Route 93 and the other for a driver who violated a no-passing zone rule at Routes 54 and 209.Officer Timothy Wuttke was dispatched to Redner's Warehouse Market on Nov. 1 for a shoplifter. He filed retail theft charges against Sandra Calvello of 402 Spruce St., Tamaqua. Calvello allegedly stole merchandise from the store.Chief Sean Smith was dispatched to the store Nov. 3, again for a reported theft. He filed retail theft charges against Christopher Jay Jones of 11 N. School St., Nesquehoning and against Mandi Lynn McGinley of 111 B, Jamestown St., Lehighton. Jones allegedly stole $16.56 worth of merchandise with McGinley's help.Smith also filed a summary charge of delinquent bills against Charles Webb of 211 Yard Street, Nesquehoning. Webb allegedly did not pay his sanitation bill from June 2009 through March 2010. He owed a total of $324.Smith investigated an accident on Nov. 5. The driver, Susan Marie Karchner of 84 Conyngham Drive, Sugarloaf, was traveling east on Route 54 in the area of First and Second avenues when a small black car ran her off the road. Karchner was not injured, but her 2009 Toyota Corolla was damaged. The small black car kept going.Smith also investigated an accident on Nov. 8 at 7:06 a.m. The driver, Michaelene Panzarella of 537 Morrison Circle, Hazleton, was traveling north on Route 209 on the Jim Thorpe Highway when a deer ran into her car, causing moderate to severe damage. The car had to be towed.
