The Rev. Lunnett M. Hilliard was called as pastor of Friedens United Church of Christ on Sunday, Oct. 31.
Upon retirement as a mathematics teacher in the Bangor School District, Lunette enrolled in the licensed ministry program of the Penn Northeast Conference of the United Church of Christ.
She did supervised ministry at Dryland UCC of Nazareth and Friedens UCC of Slatington. She received her Masters of Divinity degree on May 15, 2010, from Moravian Theological Seminary, and will be ordained in the United Church of Christ. Most recently she served as the parish life coordinator at Hope United Church of Christ, Allentown.
Prior to seminary, Lunnett's lay leadership included serving as a deacon, elder, and Sunday school superintendant of her home church, Trinity UCC, Mount Bethel, Pa. She has also served on the board of directors of the Penn Northeast Conference and various committees. She currently serves on the PNEC Investment Committee.
Pastor Hilliard and her husband Charles live in Upper Mount Bethel Township and have two grown children, Sue Ann and John, and one grandchild, Lianne.
The members of Friedens UCC welcome Lunnett and look forward to having her as their "shepherd."
