"Make a Splash! Read!" is the theme for the summer reading program at the Palmerton Area Library, at 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

To start the summer there will be a Kick-off Rock Concert for Kids of all ages featuring Ricky and Ovmium76 from Allentown on Wednesday June 16 at 7:30 p.m. The free concert will be held in the upstairs gallery of the library and will showcase familiar kinds songs to a rock and roll beat.

Children are invited to sing and dance and get in the mood for lots of reading fun at the library this summer.

For children in kindergarten through grade one the library will present Puppets, Stories and Crafts on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. from June 18-July 30.

Children in grades two through grade six are invited to participate in Books, Games and Activities presented by the library staff on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. from June 18-July 30.

Two special programs have been scheduled for this age group. On June 18 "What's Weather?" will be presented by Cathy from Super Science and Amazing Art. On July 9 Dan Kunkle from the Lehigh Gap Nature Center will present a program called "What's in the Water?"

A new offering this summer will be Stories, Songs and Movement for preschoolers through age 5 on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. starting June 17 and continuing through July 29. All the programs are free and open to all children. No advance registration is required.

The Teen Advisory Group (for teens age 12 through 19) will continue to meet during the summer and has special activities planned around the water theme. The group is always looking for new members and the summer activities are planned to welcome visitors and encourage more teens to become involved.

During the summer months the Library Knitting Club will continue to meet on the first and third Mondays of the month at 6 p.m.

A Wednesday morning yoga class has been added just for the summer months beginning June 16. Also on Friday, June 11 at 7 p.m. the library will present an evening of classical music and Broadway show tunes featuring Joseph Plechavy and Randall Perry.
