A massive haul

Motorists had a long wait Monday morning when crews attempted to deliver two mammoth 165-foot concrete bridge beams to a construction site on the Northeast Extension of the turnpike. It took many maneuvers to make the turn at the intersection of state routes 309 and 895 in the village of Snyders, West Penn Township. The beams reached their final destination as they passed through the toll booths of the turnpike. Walsh Construction is replacing two bridges which span the Lehigh River and the Parryville Dam.
