Pennsylvania State Police from Troop L , in cooperation with municipal police, will be conducting their annual Camp Cadet program the week of Aug. 15-21.
The camp is a co-ed summer program held at Camp Conrad Weiser in Wernersville, Berks County. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 12 to 15 who are residents of Berks, Lebanon or Schuylkill counties, which is the Troop L patrol area.
The camp is a one week, overnight program, conducted in a mini-police academy setting.
Police officers provide demonstrations and progams about the many aspects of police work including helicopters, drug dogs, horses, motorcycles, fingerprinting and scuba diving.
Campers will experience the usual activities of a summer camp such as swimming, horseback riding, rifle shooting, sports and confidence building obstacle courses.
Applications will be distributed to schools and are also available at all state police stations in the three county area. The cost of the camp is $75 per child.
