A company that has provided trash collection services to Northern Lehigh School District hopes to continue on in that capacity.

Three companies bid on the project Monday, with Waste Management, of Audubon, Montgomery County, checking in with the lowest rates for district wide trash removal/recycling.

Waste Management submitted the apparent low bids of $25,764 in year one and two of the contract, $26,280 in years three and four, and $26,664 in year five.

J.P. Mascaro & Sons, also of Audubon, submitted bids of $27,625, $28,316, $29,024, $29,750, and $30,493, while McAuliffe Hauling & Recycling Services, Walnutport. turned in proposals of $32,501 in each of the first three years, and $33,000 in years four and five.

The bids were in line with what the district had anticipated, according to Greg Derr, director of support services and transportation.

Derr said the bids will be discussed at the school board's Buildings and Grounds Committee meeting on Wednesday.

He said the bids could be placed on the agenda for approval when the school board meets at 7:30 p.m. May 10.

The district's current contract with Waste Management expires on June 30.
