Mr. and Mrs. Michael Marek, Nesquehoning, announce the engagement of their daughter, Wendy, to Scott Murphy, son of James Murphy, Tamaqua, and the late Linda Evans Murphy.

The bride-to-be is a 2002 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and a 2008 graduate of Wilkes University, where she earned a doctor of pharmacy degree. She is employed as a pharmacist at Hazle Drugs, Hazleton.The prospective groom is a 2001 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and a 2005 graduate of Penn State University, University Park, where he earned a bachelor's degree in recreation and park management and business and marketing. He is employed as a member of the management team at Schuylkill Country Club, Orwigsburg.The couple will exchange vows on Oct. 9, 2010.
