Tamaqua driver facing charges

Driving a vehicle without a driver's license resulted in a number of charges for a Tamaqua man on April 27.

Officer Matthew Houser was on patrol at 8:59 p.m., driving north on Oak Street when he saw a green coupe traveling west on Race Street with Marc Joseph Tita, 33, of 225 Pine St., behind the wheel. Houser knew Tita's license had been suspended and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.Tita saw the officer, failed to stop at a sign at the intersection of Oak and Penn streets, then pulled over in front of a garage on Race Street. He then exited the vehicle and ran off.He was cited for fleeing/attempting to elude police, reckless endangerment (passengers in his vehicle), disorderly conduct, failure to heed a stop sign and driving with a suspended license.
