The Black Diamond Writers Network will conduct the region's first writers conference on April 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Schuylkill County Council for the Arts Center, 1440 Mahantongo St., Pottsville.
Keynote speaker will be Kathryn Crofy, owner of Writing-Partner.com. Her topic will be "Coming to Terms With Life: An Artist's Approach."
Day long events will also include eight workshops on writing-related topics as well as an author book fair.

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Nursery care is available. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, a service will be held at the Hometown Nursing Center, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, Prayer Time at 8:30 a.m. and GriefShare at 1:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Freed Up Financial Living Class at 6:30 p.m., Tamaqua Youth Ministry at 6:30 p.m., adult Bible study at 6:30 p.m. and praise practice at 8 p.m.; Thursday, hoagie sale; Saturday, men's conference in Allentown from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The next American Red Cross Bloodmobile visit to Tamaqua will be on March 31. The Salvation Army gym will be turned into a blood collection center. Hours will be from 1-6 p.m.
Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in general good health is eligible to donate blood.
This visit will be sponsored by the Daniel Bingaman Insurance Agency.
St. John UCC
The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Nursery service will be provided. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship. Sunday school for all ages will begin at 11 a.m. The weekly radio broadcast will air on WLSH - AM radio 1410. at 11:30 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Monday, Bell Choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, joint Lenten service, at 7:30 p.m., at Trinity UCC.
The Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. service this Sunday at First United Methodist Church. The service time was listed incorrectly in a column earlier this week.
