Guitars and drums had the Palmerton Area Library a rockin' and a rollin' when it held a rock concert in the gallery.

Children of all ages "danced" the night away as Ricky and Ovmium 76 played favorite hits like "She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain" and "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" in a hip rock beat complete with strobe lights.

Things really got hopping when they played the "Hokey Pokey" and parents and grandparents joined in the fun.

But the band really won over a new generation of fans when they put a new twist on an old favorite as they rapped to "I'm a Little Teapot."

Erica Messics, 7 of Palmerton said it was great because they played songs she knew.

Zachary Zupa, 6, who couldn't keep from dancing the night away said, "It was good. I liked everything."

"That was fun," Diane Danielson, library director said after the concert. "The kids just loved it. It was something different to get them revved up to kick off our summer reading program. I think it worked."

The library's summer reading program will be held each Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. through the end of July.

The library's summer storytime will be held every Thursday from 10:30-11 a.m.
