At Slatington's regular meeting of council held last week council voted to not allow parking on South Walnut Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 26 because of the truck traffic that will be traveling through for the Four County Fireman's Parade. Residents will be allowed to park in the municipal lot on Walnut Street during that time period.
Council voted to accept Lee Andreas' resignation from the position of the Borough Water Authority's treasurer, they appointed Andreas to the zoning hearing board and they appointed David Frederick as the temporary treasurer for the water authority. Councilwoman Kris Burek said that Frederick used to be the authority's treasurer, but he resigned when he moved out of the borough. Frederick has agreed to come back temporarily to help the borough get through the current PennVest project.
In other business, Council voted to hire Jeremy Fisher as a part time employee of the police department, to allow the Slatington Historical Society to hold The Gathering Oct. 2, to allow Northern Lehigh Future Focus to have a historical marker erected at the Neff House and to appoint Spotts, Stevens and McCoy Inc. as the borough engineer for the remainder of the year.
