When you walk into TK&J, A Unique Boutique at 7360 Main Street, Route 873 in Slatington, you immediately have a sense of peace and tranquility. That comes from meeting and talking with the owner and proprietor, Kathy Jones, as soothing and calming music wafts throughout the New Age and holistic shop. It is a feast for the eyes and the senses.

"It has always been my dream to have this kind of a store," says Kathy.

TK&J stands for Treasures Knick-Knacks and Jewels.

"When my father got sick, I looked for alternative ways to deal with cancer. One of the things I learned was how we receive energy from the natural world," says Kathy.

She believes that a person needs to be nurtured on all levels-emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.

"There's so much fear in our world and I feel the things in my store help brighten our day." Her sense of well being is what she wishes to share with her customers at TK&J.

Kathy loves to shop and travel, especially to India and Peru.

"My travels are two-fold. I study while there and bring back amazing purchases for the store," says Kathy.

Her finds range from jewelry to tantalizing essences, soaps, scented oils, to all natural candles to games that nurture young children and provides family fun and inspirational books and cards.

Most of the jewelry in the store is handmade by local artisans and natives from the places she visits. Prices range from $10-40, with some higher priced items with precious stones.

Some of the most popular items of the store are in her Bling Basket and Bling Box.

"Everything is 50 cents. Originally I thought it would be great for children to be able to find something for their moms at a price they could afford. But the men are buying from it too."

Beautiful wind chimes of various sizes with pleasing tones hang throughout the store. All are made by Woodstock Chimes of New York. Prices range from $8-$52.

"I try to keep my prices affordable."

One of the more unique items Kathy sells are Singing Bowls, played by the friction of rubbing a wooden, plastic, or leather wrapped mallet around the rim of the bowl to produce a continuous 'singing' sound, used worldwide for meditation, trance-induction, relaxation, health care, personal well-being and religious practice.

Other items available in the store are: handmade beaded belts by local artist, Blondie; many crystal and mineral specimens; Tibetan Buddhist items; handmade silk scarves from India; hand-held rattles used to change energy vibrations; Fair Trade Dean's Beans, a phenomenal all organic carbon-neutral coffee; Fair Trade organic chocolate; Fair Trade jewelry, Pachacuti from North American and Central American native tribes.

It is the peace and well-being Kathy experiences in her spiritual development that she tries to bring to her customers with the items in her store.

Kathy believes TK&J is a place that offers uplifting products at the very best prices.

"I feel people need some kind of nurturing today. With my belief system of looking for ways that I can be of service to people and to the planet, my store is some small way that I can do that."
