The nickname of its athletic teams has been "Bulldogs" for years.
Now, however, the Northern Lehigh School District has taken another step in promoting their nickname with new athletic logos for Northern Lehigh athletic teams.
Northern Lehigh will have an updated helmet logo for football and a new athletic logo for all sports.
In conjunction with Fathead Wall Graphics, everyone will be able to acquire the new Northern Lehigh logos through their website, www.fathead.com. The logo is the same as it will appear on the helmets of the Northern Lehigh Football Team.
"We are lucky enough to have an in-house graphic artist in Andy Kern," said Northern Lehigh Athletic Director Brian Geist. "It was the perfect opportunity to bring the helmet logos into the 21st Century. We weren't looking to change from Bulldogs, we just thought with Kern's talent and the commitment from Riddell and Fathead it would be a good idea.
"We wanted to maintain a similar logo. We just had an N with a Bulldog on the helmet. The new one has NL on it with the Bulldog."
This summer, the basketball court in the high school gymnasium is supposed to be resurfaced and the new Bulldog logo will be put on center court. Any uniform that is but in the future that requires a graphic will also have the new logo on.
In conjunction with Fathead, the School District will receive a portion of the proceeds made on logo sales.
