The Carbon County Environmental Education Center has scheduled a program, "Bats in Crisis" for 7 p.m. on June 16.
CCEEC Chief Naturalist Susan Gallagher will update participants on White-nose Syndrome, a disease that devastated local bat populations this past winter. Other threats to Pennsylvania bats will also be discussed.
The program is free for CCEEC members and a nominal donation is requested for non-members.
For more information or to register for the program, call the CCEEC at (570) 645-8597. The environmental education center is located at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, just outside of Jim Thorpe along the Lentz Trail Highway.
