Monroe crashes

State police at Stroudsburg reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Monroe County roads.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 12:33 p.m. on April 8 along Interstate 80 in Pocono Township. Troopers said Luciano Ortiz, 38, of Bethlehem, operating a 2011 Freightliner tractor with trailer, and Marissa J. Hanson, 32, of Tobyhanna, was driving a 2017 Hyundai Sonata. Both were eastbound with Ortiz on the Scotrun ramp behind Hanson when she stopped on the ramp prior to merging onto I-80. The front of the rig struck the rear of the Hyundai. Both drivers were uninjured but a passenger with Hanson, Linda Y. Harriott, 60, of Tobyhanna, complained of back pain and was treated at the scene by West End ambulance personnel.

Ortiz was cited for following too closely.

• The second crash occurred at 3:48 p.m. on April 9 along Independence Road in Smithfield Township. Troopers said Leonard Pope, 27, of Stroudsburg, was westbound operating a 2016 Hyundai Sonata, when he slowed down for traffic ahead of him stopping, His vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2015 Ford F150 pickup driven by Joseph B. Kenas, 70, of Kunkletown. No one was injured.

Kenas was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
