Truck owner charged

A tractor truck owner has been charged with violations following an incident in Nesquehoning.

Chief Sean Smith reported that on July 20 he was traveling south on SR903 in the area of the truck runaway ramp when he observed a Peterbilt rig by the ramp on fire. The driver of the truck was not injured and put the fire out with an extinguisher.Smith learned that the truck had multiple equipment violations including brakes were not working, marker lights did not work on the trailer, emissions sticker was expired as of May 20, and the tires on the front steering axle were considered out of service violations.Smith filed charges against the truck owner, JJAMM Auto Transport, 34 Rhode Island Rd., Erial, N.J. The truck was towed to Kovatch auto center in Nesquehoning and was later released after all the repairs were made to make it safe to drive.
