A man was injured Tuesday evening when involved in a tree cutting accident in a remote and heavily wooded area of Ryan township, Schuylkill County. The incident occurred at 5 p.m. when the victim reportedly fell out of a tree. His young son walked a mile through the woods to seek help for his injured father. Emergency personnel from the Ryan Township and Delano fire companies, Ryan Township ambulance and Ryan and Rush township police were dispatched to an area along Church Street. Rescue workers decided traveling up Bridge Street, a narrow dirt road, would place them closer to the victim. After a mile in they encountered a steel gate across the roadway. Firefighters had to utilize the jaws of life and pry bars to open the gate. The victim was located and treated for his injuries. Medical personnel removed the victim from the scene by traveling south through the woods exiting on Church Street. The victim was transported by the Ryan township ambulance to an area hospital. His son, pictured above, was congratulated as being a hero throughout the ordeal.
