The five-cent record on the jukebox, popular in taverns, lunchrooms, ice cream parlors, and other establishments, will soon be no more. It is fast passing into oblivion, with the fivecent pay station telephone call, the five-cent fare on the subways, and the nickel cigar. From now on it will cost 10 cents to play a jukebox record. Jukebox owners said increased cost of operation, higher costs of the machines, increased cost of records, taxes on electronics used in the juke boxes, and other taxes are responsible.
