Tammy Graeber, director of The Garden of Giving, presents a basket to Vicki Connor, president of the Western Pocono Women's Club after her presentation to the club. The basket is filled with a cucumber, lettuce, zucchini and parsley-some of the bounty she is currently harvesting from her 2 1/2-acre of land she has turned into a garden that is producing fresh vegetables and strawberries for local Monroe County food banks. The Garden of Giving is in its second year. In 2009, The Garden supplied Effort United Methodist's Supplemental Food Bank with 1,500 lbs. of produce. This year, it is donating produce to five local food banks. It has 66 volunteers helping Tammy. Next year, she hopes to be supplying produce and fresh eggs to 11 local food banks. Partnering with Monroe County Technical Institute, the students took $20 worth of seeds and supplied The Garden with 4,000 plants. WPWC has given The Garden of Giving donations and Tammy thanked the ladies and said, "May we feed God's flock together."
